Veteran actor Dharmendra's last movie Ikkis has performed well on its opening day and managed to collect an estimated Rs 7 Cr India net. The film's collections are almost 3X of what was projected by trade pundits.
Ikkis was released across 4,000 screens in India on January 1, it was earlier scheduled to release on December 25.
The makers decided to postpone the release of Ikkis owing to the fabulous performance of Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar.
Ikkis is likely to do well thanks to its good word of mouth and also considering it was He-Man Dharmendra's last movie before his death in November last year.
According to a trade website, Ikkis had 12% occupancy in the morning shows across the country, which jumped to 35% by afternoon, and 47% in the evening, considering it was also the first day of the year and a holiday in many cities.
Second day opening is encouraging
Going by the early trends, Ikkis has earned around 0.04 Cr India net on the second day of its release.
If we combine both the days then Ikkis has earned RS 7.04 Cr till now, though second day's figures are yet to come and it is just an early trend data.
Ikkis marks the onscreen debut of Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda and Akshay Kumar's niece Simar Bhatia. The movie is directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Maddock Films.
Ikkis also features Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, in pivotal roles.
As per Moneycontrol's review, Abhishek Srivastav writes Ikkis steps away from Sriram Raghavan’s familiar terrain, but the shift never fully settles into something gripping. What stays with you are not the battles, but the quiet heartfelt moments carried by Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat.
