The brutal murder of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele has sent shockwaves across the world, and recent reports suggest there have been fresh developments in the investigation.
Following their horrific killing at their Los Angeles residence, sources cited by The New York Times reported that the couple’s 28-year-old daughter, Romy, was the one who initially discovered her father’s body. Overcome with shock, she reportedly fled the house without realising that her mother was also lying dead inside the residence, according to the publication.
Romy was later contacted by a massage therapist who had been unable to reach the couple on Sunday. At the time, she was with a roommate. She returned to her parents’ home accompanied by the roommate, who placed a call to 911 while they waited outside the house.
Meanwhile, a report by TMZ described the scene at the family’s Brentwood residence as “something out of a nightmare.” Although authorities have not released a detailed timeline, the report stated that the Reiners had been dead for several hours by the time they were found.
According to the New York Post, Romy allegedly told police that her brother was “dangerous” and “should be considered a suspect.” However, a source close to the family told The New York Times that there had been no signs in recent weeks suggesting that Nick could be capable of such extreme violence.
The couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick, has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is currently being held without bail. District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated that Nick could face life imprisonment without the possibility of parole or even the death penalty.

Nick Reiner was scheduled to make his initial court appearance earlier on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said he was not transported from jail to the courthouse due to medical reasons, leading to the hearing being postponed.
At Wednesday’s hearing, Reiner may enter a plea, or a judge could set an arraignment for later. Alternatively, the same issue that prevented him from appearing in court on Tuesday could result in another delay. He continues to be held without bail.
