Emma Roberts will soon return to the screen with a new Peacock TV series that reimagines the 2009 movie Bride Wars. Besides starring in the series, she will also executive produce under her Belletrist production company.

According to Deadline, the project will be created and executive produced by multi-Emmy Award winner Sascha Rothchild (GLOW, XO, Kitty), with New Regency serving as the principal studio and co-studios 20th Television and UCP.

The television series Bride Wars, which is set against the picturesque background of North Carolina, will follow Emma Roberts, a big-city wedding planner, whose entrance in a tiny town sets off an epic confrontation with a cherished local planner. The two women's competition rapidly grows into a more significant conflict over friendship, community, and, eventually, love as they struggle to arrange the same wedding.

Meanwhile, the original Bride Wars film revolves around long-time best friends Liv and Emma, played by Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, have their weddings inadvertently scheduled for the same day at the same location, ‘The Plaza Hotel’ in New York City. There is a lot of commotion, confusion, and drama.

The women quarrel over who should sacrifice for the other and who should maintain the date. They battle in the movie between being a genuine friend and losing their friend forever.

The show's executive producers are Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann for New Regency; Roberts, Karah Preiss, and Matt Matruski for Belletrist; and Alexandra Milchan and Martin Salgo for Crescent Line.

In addition to being an executive producer on the popular Hulu series Tell Me Lies, which just wrapped off its three-season run, Roberts is working on the feature picture Hal opposite Alexander Ludwig. Sweeney Entertainment and attorney JR McGinnis are Roberts' representatives.
