Singer and songwriter Chappell Roan broke the internet with her 2026 Grammy Awards. She made a memorable arrival at the biggest night in the music industry. She walked the red carpet wearing a Mugler trompe l'oeil gown with elaborate tattoos and faux nipple piercings.

Chappell instantly became the talk of the night with several criticising her look. However, she is "giggling" at all the comments made about her 2026 Grammy Awards look.

Following the Grammy appearance, Chappell took to her Instagram and shared a series of pictures from the red carpet. She took a dig at the comments in her caption of the post.

Chappell wrote, “Giggling because I don’t even think this is THAT outrageous of an outfit. The look’s actually so awesome and weird.”

She added, “I recommend just exercising your free will it’s really fun and silly :D Thank you for having me @grammys and those who voted for me!!”

Inspired by a runway concept from Thierry Mugler's spring 1998 "Jeu de Paume" couture collection, the unique piece had a matching cape and hung sheer burgundy cloth from the false piercings to the floor.

Chappell accessorised her Grammys ensemble, which was designed by her longtime stylist Genesis Webb, with exquisite gold Buccellati jewels.

Chappell defended artists during her victory speech, saying to the audience, "Labels, we got you, but do you got us?"

She said, “I told myself that if I ever won a Grammy and got to stand up here before the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels in the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a livable wage and health care, especially to developing artists.”

She added, “Record labels need to treat their artists as valuable employees with a livable wage and health insurance and protection."

Chappell won Best New Artist last year, but she didn't win the Grammy for The Subway, for which she was nominated this year.
