Happy birthday Devoleena Bhattacharjee: Reflecting on her iconic roles and joyful new beginnings

Devoleena Bhattacharjee, born on August 22, 1985, has captivated audiences with her versatile talents and compelling performances. Known for her iconic role as Gopi Modi in the popular show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, Devoleena's journey in the entertainment industry is both inspiring and impressive.

She is born to an Assamese-Bengali family in Upper Assam. She pursued higher studies at the National Institute of Fashion and Technology in New Delhi. Before stepping into the world of acting, Devoleena worked as a jewellery designer in Mumbai and was a trained Bharatanatyam dancer.

Her acting debut came in 2011 with NDTV Imagine's Sawaare Sabke Sapne Preeto. However, it was in June 2012, when she replaced Giaa Manek as Gopi Ahem Modi in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, Devoleena's career took off. Her portrayal of Gopi Bahu earned her widespread acclaim and became a defining moment in her career.

Despite contemplating leaving the show due to its frequent time leaps, she continued with the role until the series concluded in July 2017.

In addition to her television success, Devoleena made notable appearances in various seasons of Bigg Boss. She participated in Bigg Boss 13, Bigg Boss 14 as a proxy for Eijaz Khan, and later as a wild card contestant in Bigg Boss 15, making history alongside Rakhi Sawant and Rahul Mahajan for appearing in three different seasons.

August 2020 saw Devoleena reprise her role as Gopi Modi in the sequel Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2, celebrating a decade of her association with the show. She returned in June 2022 to mark the show's 10-year anniversary and help resolve the character Gehna's family issues.

Recently, in September 2023, Devoleena joined the cast of Sony SAB's Dil Diyaan Gallaan as Disha, showing her continuing versatility and talent.

On a personal note, Devoleena married her fitness trainer Shahnawaz Shaikh in December 2022. The couple announced their pregnancy on August 15, 2024, adding another joyful chapter to Devoleena's life.
