Gurmeet Choudhary, a renowned actor known for his roles in TV, films, and streaming shows, recently addressed criticism regarding his wife Debina Bonnerjee's parenting. Trolls on social media have accused Debina of favoring one of their daughters, Divisha, over the other, Lianna. This issue gained traction through the couple’s YouTube vlogs, where their family life is often showcased, attracting both praise and criticism from viewers.
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Gurmeet spoke out against these allegations for the first time. He emphasized that Debina feels terrible about the accusations. Gurmeet and Debina, who welcomed their second daughter Divisha in November 2022, have always been open with their fans about their family life. However, the criticism about alleged favoritism has caused them distress.
Reacting to the accusations, Gurmeet said, "Debina certainly feels bad about it. How can people ever imagine that a mother would be partial to one of her kids? Only fools could even think this way. Debina feels bad about it, but I tell her that these people are jobless, they don’t think before posting on social media, and what they say shouldn’t affect our lives.”
Gurmeet further revealed that he has trained himself to ignore negative comments online, choosing instead to focus on the positive feedback and love from their fans. He questioned, "Why subject yourself to stuff like that at all?" This approach of focusing on positivity helps the couple manage the criticism they face.
When Debina and Gurmeet welcomed Divisha, Gurmeet took to Instagram to share the joyous news, writing, "Welcome our baby girl into the world. As ecstatic as we are becoming parents again, we appreciate some privacy at this time as our baby has come into the world sooner than due. Keep blessing and showering your continued love.”
Debina, talking about her daughter, had revealed that Divisha is 'very tiny and delicate,' which naturally makes her worry more about her well-being. She also mentioned that she does not allow anyone to touch her baby girl and that Divisha's massage is done only by her grandmother. This protective approach towards her child is likely what sparked the false rumors of favoritism, which Debina has been unfairly targeted for.
The couple's approach to handling online negativity and focusing on positive interactions with their fans is a testament to their resilience. Gurmeet's remarks highlight the often harsh and unfounded nature of social media criticisms and underscore the need for empathy and understanding towards public figures who share their lives online.
