Ajith Kumar’s latest action-packed entertainer Good Bad Ugly made a thunderous debut at the box office, releasing on April 10 with massive fanfare. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the film co-stars Trisha and Arjun Das and opened to packed theatres, with early morning and noon shows running houseful in several regions of Tamil Nadu.
The opening day witnessed remarkable enthusiasm from fans, with celebrations across the state reflecting Ajith’s immense popularity. The film raked in a stellar Rs 28.5 crore (net India) on its first day, setting the tone for a strong start.
However, despite the impressive debut, the film saw a significant drop in collections on its second day. As per early estimates from Sacnilk, Good Bad Ugly earned Rs 13.50 crore on Friday, bringing the two-day total to Rs 42.75 crore. The sharp decline has sparked discussions among trade analysts, though the weekend still holds potential for recovery, especially with strong word-of-mouth and Ajith’s loyal fan base.
As per Sacnilk, The Tamil (2D) occupancy report for Day 2 shows a steady build-up through the day. Morning shows saw an occupancy of 28.80%, which increased to 46.87% by the afternoon. The evening picked up further with 52.99%, and night shows peaked at 73.91%, indicating a surge in interest as the day progressed.
Good Bad Ugly is an action comedy featuring Ajith Kumar in the role of a feared gangster named Red Dragon. The ensemble cast includes Prabhu, Prasanna, Sunil, Rahul Dev, Yogi Babu, Shine Tom Chacko, and others in pivotal roles. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and T-Series Films, the film boasts a pulsating soundtrack composed by GV Prakash, adding energy to the high-octane narrative.
A part of Moneycontrol.com review read, "Good Bad Ugly is an absolute mass entertainer that is a treat to all the Ajith fans out there. The first half of the film begins with a gripping narrative, filled with high-energy action sequences that provide fans with an adrenaline rush. In addition, it has numerous nostalgic scenes that transport the audience back to their childhood. The interval block works really well, and it prepares fans for an absolute roller coaster ride in the second half. But unfortunately, the second half does not live up to the expectations and loses momentum after a point. The storyline is high on action sequences but lacks emotional depth. The director seems to have worked on the elevation scenes more and not the actual story."
