In a shocking incident, comedian Kapil Sharma’s newly opened café in Canada came under gunfire late Wednesday night. A video circulating on social media shows a man sitting in a car firing at least nine rounds at Kap’s Cafe, located in Surrey, British Columbia. Nobody was injured in the attack, according to reports.
The café, which recently had its soft launch, marks Kapil Sharma’s debut in the hospitality industry. His wife, Ginni Chatrath, is also actively involved in the venture. The shooting has cast a shadow over the much-celebrated inauguration of the eatery.
As per a report in NDTV, Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi has claimed responsibility for the attack. Laddi is a key figure associated with the banned terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International and is one of the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) most wanted fugitives.
Reports suggest that Laddi ordered the shooting due to a statement made by Kapil Sharma in the past, which allegedly offended him.

Local police and forensic teams quickly reached the scene following the incident.
Authorities have cordoned off the area and launched a full-scale investigation.
Surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts are being analyzed to identify the shooter and understand the exact sequence of events.
Harjeet Singh Laddi is also the main accused in the April 2024 assassination of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar, also known as Vikas Bagga.
Prabhakar was shot dead at his shop in Punjab’s Rupnagar district, a case that led to intensified scrutiny of Khalistani-linked terror operations across international borders.
The attack has raised concerns about the reach of Khalistani extremists and their increasing audacity in targeting high-profile individuals even outside India.
