The special tribute was in honor of the late Australian cricketer Shane Warne, who was a close friend of Sheeran. In the clip, Sheeran is seen stepping onto the pitch with enthusiasm, declaring, "Let’s go play some cricket."

According to BookMyShow Live, which is organizing Sheeran’s multi-city Mathematics India Tour in collaboration with AEG Presents Asia, the friendly cricket match took place on Sunday at the Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The event was held just ahead of Sheeran’s second concert in the city.

Interestingly, this happened right before Sheeran went viral for busking on Church Street. During the impromptu cricket session, Sheeran, Parag, and Deshpande played alongside a group of young cricketers who had been practicing at the academy that day. Initially stunned by the unexpected celebrity guest, the kids quickly warmed up to the experience, joining in to bowl, bat, and share a few laughs with the global music star. BookMyShow sources shared that the game turned into a fun and memorable moment for everyone involved.

Sources further revealed that the jersey Ed Sheeran wore during the match was a specially designed Rajasthan Royals jersey, created as a tribute to the legendary Shane Warne. Warne, who had a profound impact on both the sport and the Royals franchise, was honored through this personalized gesture. Upon receiving the jersey, Sheeran was visibly thrilled and was heard exclaiming, “Oh wow! With Shane on the back!”

As part of his Mathematics India Tour, Sheeran’s next concert is set to take place at JN Stadium (Polo Ground) in Shillong on February 12. His final performance in India for this tour will be at Leisure Valley Ground in Delhi NCR on February 15, wrapping up his highly anticipated series of shows in the country.
