Emraan Hashmi is currently prepping for one of the most anticipated sequels, Awarapan 2 and in exciting news for fans, actress Disha Patani has been roped in to play the female lead as per latest reports.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Disha will be seen opposite Emraan in the Nitin Kakkar directorial. A source revealed that, similar to the first film, the sequel will also carry an “intense story.” However, this time, the makers are planning to expand the world further, setting it once again against the backdrop of the gangster life.
The insider also mentioned that the essence of the original film will remain the same, but the sequel will take things a notch higher, with “2x the romance and 2x the emotions.” While Emraan Hashmi will return to his popular role as Shivam Pandit, the makers have kept details about Disha Patani’s character under wraps for now.
After reading the script, Disha reportedly agreed to join right away because she was so moved by the character's emotional journey. However, the team has already begun working on the movie's soundtrack. Similar to the first section, they intend to include heartfelt romantic songs that will play a significant role in the narrative.
Awarapan 2 is anticipated to go on floors between late September and early October, if reports are to be believed. By the end of January of next year, the filmmakers hope to have finished filming.
There are also speculations that the film might hit theatres in the summer of 2026, though the production team has not made any official announcement about the release date yet.
Meanwhile, Emrana Hashmi was last seen in the film Ground Zero which hit the theatres on April 25, 2025. He is gearing up for his next release alongside Pawan Kalyan, OG set to release on September 25, 2025.
