Actor Sonal Chauhan had a heartwarming moment during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final between the India national cricket team and the New Zealand national cricket team when fans at the stadium surprised her by singing a popular song from her debut film. The memorable interaction took place at the packed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8.
The actress later shared a video from the stadium on social media, capturing the unexpected moment. In the clip, several spectators recognised her in the stands and began singing “Zara Sa Dil Mein De Jagah Tu,” the iconic track from her 2008 film Jannat. The crowd’s spontaneous tribute quickly caught the actress by surprise.
Sonal appeared visibly touched by the gesture. As fans continued singing the song, she smiled warmly, waved at them and acknowledged their love from the stands. The sweet exchange created a lively atmosphere and added to the excitement of the high-profile cricket final.
In the caption, she wrote, "This was so soooo special. Couldn’t capture the whole moment. But it was just too special the way you all sang my song ZARA SA…. I’m sure My smile says it all. Thank you Ahmedabad. I love you Gujrat. I LOVE YOU ALL. Thank you for making me smile always."
The video quickly went viral on social media, with fans praising the crowd for remembering the beloved song even years after the film’s release. Many users said the moment was a reminder of how popular the music of Jannat continues to be among audiences.
Released in 2008, Jannat starred Emraan Hashmi and Sonal Chauhan in lead roles and became known for its memorable soundtrack. The romantic drama helped establish Sonal as a recognised face in Bollywood and remains one of her most popular projects.
