Kantara: Chapter 1 which stars Rishab Shetty is already one of the most anticipated films of 2025, and just when fans thought the project could not get any bigger, it has revealed a surprising new dimension.
As per India Today, in a rare collaboration, Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh will sing in the mystical action-thriller, which is a prequel to Shetty's critically acclaimed Kantara (2022).
The choice is in line with Hombale Films' goal of having the movie appeal to viewers both domestically and abroad.
The film broadens its audience by incorporating Dosanjh's music into its story, signifying the artistic fusion of cultures and identities.
The track will be recorded at YRF Studios in Mumbai tomorrow, adding an element of freshness to the already rich soundtrack composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath.
Rishab has put together a talented creative team behind the scenes, with Vinesh Banglan designing the production and Arvind Kashyap handling cinematography. What is regarded as one of the most ambitious Indian films ever attempted was shaped in part by their shared vision.
Scale has always been a hallmark of Kantara, and this prequel promises to push it further. At its heart lies an enormous war sequence, choreographed across 25 acres of rugged terrain with over 500 fighters and 3,000 extras. Filmed over a gruelling 45–50 days, it is being touted as one of the largest and most intricate battle sequences in Indian cinema history.

Actor Rukmini Vasanth, who stars alongside Shetty, offered a glimpse into the director’s process. “He has an incredibly grand vision. They recently released a 15-minute video of Kantara’s making. You can see the degree to which they worked on Kantara and the enormous scale that has been built. It is also rooted and present in the cultural milieu that made the first film more successful. You can have such a monumental vision and still hold on to the essence and that is brilliant.”
With its mix of folklore, faith, spectacle and now a surprising Punjabi twist, Kantara: Chapter 1 aims to deliver not just a story but a deeply layered cinematic experience. Backed by Hombale Films, the movie will release worldwide on 2nd October 2025.
