The eagerly awaited prequel to Rishab Shetty's National Award-winning movie Kantara is getting closer to its premiere date. The movie, which has officially finished filming and is scheduled for a big theatrical release in October 2025, is titled Kantara Chapter 1.

A Significant Pay Increase for Rishab Shetty for the Prequel

Koimoi reported that Rishab Shetty, who served as the project's writer, director, and lead actor, received a sizable pay increase for his diverse contributions. Shetty allegedly charged about Rs 4 crore for the original Kantara. However, the actor-director is reportedly making an incredible Rs 100 crore for Chapter 1 because of the increased expectations for the sequel.

The Profit-Sharing Model Increases Rishab's Income

Rishab Shetty has agreed to a profit-sharing arrangement for the movie in addition to his upfront payment, which is estimated to be Rs 50 crore. This puts him in line with well-known South Indian actors like Yash and Prabhas, who also receive a cut of the box office receipts after the movie turns a profit and recoups its expenses.

Set Controversies and Safety Concerns

Kantara Chapter 1 has been controversial despite the film's seamless development. Fans began to worry about their safety after reports of a boat capsizing incident on set surfaced in recent months.

The producer of the movie quickly refuted these allegations, stating that the boat was only a prop and that there were no crew members on board when it capsized as a result of strong winds and rain.

There were no mishaps. The weather caused the set boat to capsize, but no one was inside or close by. In a formal statement, the producer promised that everything was under control.
