CID 2 gets a new twist as Vibhanshu Dixit enters as politician’s son

The much-loved crime thriller CID 2 continues to keep audiences hooked with its intense drama, thrilling mysteries, and exciting new twists. The original CID first aired in 1998 and ran successfully for two decades before concluding in 2018. When the show returned in 2024 with CID 2, fans were overjoyed to see their iconic characters make a comeback.

Stalwarts like Shivaji Satam (ACP Pradyuman), Dayanand Shetty (Sr. Inspector Daya), Aditya Srivastava (Sr. Inspector Abhijeet), Ajay Nagrath (Inspector Pankaj), Ansha Sayed (Inspector Purvi), Hrishikesh Pandey (Inspector Sachin), Narendra Gupta (Dr. Salunkhe), and others returned to continue the saga. However, the second season brought in several twists — including the shocking exit of ACP Pradyuman after being killed by Barboza, and the unexpected reveal of Dr. Salunkhe as the ‘gaddar’.

New characters have added depth to the series. Parth Samthaan joined as ACP Ayushmaan, investigating the betrayal within the team. Janvi Chheda and Shraddha Musale also returned, reprising their roles as Inspector Shreya and Dr. Tarika. Recently, actor Sanjay Narvekar made a powerful entry as Superintendent Omkar Sawant.

Now, CID 2 welcomes a fresh face — Vibhanshu Dixit. The Apollena actor has joined the cast in a prominent role. In a conversation with ETimes, Vibhanshu expressed his excitement: “I grew up watching CID and have been a huge fan. Being a part of this show is a dream come true.” He revealed that he will be playing the son of a politician — a character that promises to bring new layers to the storyline.

Talking about his connection with the original cast, he said, “From Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman, Aditya Srivastava as Sr. Inspector Abhijeet, Dayanand Shetty as Sr. Inspector Daya, Dinesh Phadnis as Inspector Fredricks, Narendra Gupta as Dr. Salunkhe, among others — I share a wonderful attachment, and it was amazing to meet them, work with them and bond with them in real life.”

With Vibhanshu’s entry, CID 2 continues to evolve while staying true to its roots, making it one of the most gripping shows in TV news today.
