At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Indian-American singer and entrepreneur Chandrika Tandon took home the Grammy for Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album for her album Triveni.

She made history with her collaborators, Wouter Kellerman and Eru Matsumoto, for their remarkable work on the album. The esteemed ceremony, which celebrated the best in music, took place on February 2 in Los Angeles, marking a significant achievement in Tandon’s career.

Triveni has received widespread acclaim for its fusion of various musical styles, and this win further solidifies Tandon’s impact on the global music scene.

Tandon, who proudly represented India on the global stage, attended the event dressed elegantly in a silk salwar kurta, accessorised with her signature necklace.

She was among the select few artists of Indian heritage to receive a nomination at this year’s Grammys.

Alongside Tandon, other Indian musicians like Ricky Kej, Anoushka Shankar, and Radhika Vekaria were also nominated in their respective categories, showcasing the growing recognition of Indian talent in the global music industry.

WHO IS CHANDRIKA KRISHNAMURTHY TANDON?

Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon is a distinguished Indian-American business leader, philanthropist, and talented musician, known for her two Grammy nominations.

She is the elder sister of Indra Nooyi, the former CEO of PepsiCo, and has made a significant mark in both the corporate and music worlds. Tandon's achievements reflect her diverse range of talents and contributions, from her philanthropic efforts to her growing recognition in the global music industry.

Raised in Chennai, Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon completed her undergraduate studies at Madras Christian College before pursuing a master’s degree at IIM Ahmedabad. She made history by becoming the first Indian-American woman to be appointed as a partner at McKinsey & Company.

As both a composer and vocalist, Chandrika Tandon has trained in Hindustani, Carnatic, and Western music traditions, blending these diverse influences into her music. Her debut album, Soul Call, released in 2009, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary World Music in 2011. In 2024, her album Triveni received a Grammy nomination for Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album, further cementing her international presence in the music world.

Released on August 30, 2024, Triveni includes seven tracks: Pathway to Light, Chant in A, Journey Within, Aether’s Serenade, Ancient Moon, Open Sky, and Seeking Shakti. The album blends various musical traditions, offering a serene and immersive listening experience.

In addition to her musical achievements, Tandon has thrived in the business world, being one of just eight women to gain admission to the prestigious IIM Ahmedabad. Her exceptional journey seamlessly merges a deep passion for music with strong business acumen and a dedication to philanthropy, allowing her to make a significant impact in both fields.
