War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, is all set for a grand release on August 14. The film’s teaser and trailer have already received immense love from fans, and the Hrithik–Kiara starrer song Aavan Jaavan has also garnered significant appreciation.
Before approving the movie, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) made a few adjustments. The board ordered some other edits but left the action-packed scenes unaltered.
Nine seconds of footage were cut out after the CBFC ordered the producers to reduce the amount of sensuous imagery by fifty percent. Although the board did not formally disclose which scenes were cut, rumours suggest that Kiara Advani's appearance in a bikini in Aavan Jaavan was one of them.
Bollywood Hungama claims that the full song originally included more glimpses of her appearance, which have since been condensed. Her appearance has already become a topic of discussion on the internet.
Muting "inappropriate references" in both dialogue and images was one of the first instructions. Six of these cases were changed in total. A board-approved sentence was used to replace a "obscene" line in the movie, and a minute or so later, a two-second "obscene" gesture was ordered to be completely cut out.
With these modifications, War 2’s initial runtime of 179.49 minutes (2 hours, 59 minutes, and 49 seconds) earned it a U/A 16+ certificate on August 6.
Interestingly, just two days later, on August 8, the filmmakers voluntarily revisited the CBFC. This time, they trimmed the film further to improve its pacing, reducing the runtime to 171.44 minutes (2 hours, 51 minutes, and 44 seconds).
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is part of YRF’s ever-expanding spy universe, promising a blend of star power, intense action, and stylish visuals.
