Camila Mendes, known for her role in the popular TV series "Riverdale," is in talks to take on the lead role in Sony's upcoming remake of the classic horror film "I Know What You Did Last Summer."
Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King are in talks to join Camila Mendes in the upcoming "I Know What You Did Last Summer" reboot. As per Variety, the film is set to be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson if the actors are finalized and is currently in development with a script penned by Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson, based on a draft by Leah McKendrick.
The 1997 horror-thriller "I Know What You Did Last Summer" starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ryan Phillippe. Directed by Jim Gillespie, the film was a cinematic adaptation of Lois Duncan's 1973 novel of the same name.
The film follows a group of friends whose lives are irrevocably changed after a fatal accident during a summer night. Haunted by their secret, they become the targets of a relentless, hook-wielding killer. The suspenseful thriller became a massive hit, spawning a sequel the following year.

The story has also been adapted into a television series, which premiered in 2021 and is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Te upcoming remake on "I Know What You Did Last Summer" is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 18, 2025. Adding to the anticipation, original cast members Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt are in talks to reprise their roles in the upcoming film.
