Actor Kim Min Kyu, best known for his roles in popular K-dramas such as Business Proposal and Backstreet Rookie, has officially completed his mandatory military service and shared the delightful news with his fans.
As reported by AllKpop, on September 30 (KST), the actor confirmed that he has been discharged from duty. He said, “I enlisted on April 1, 2024, and I was officially discharged as of September 30, 2025.”
Reflecting on his time in the military, Kim Min Kyu expressed, “One year and six months have passed—long if you think of it as long, short if you think of it as short. There were difficult moments, but thanks to the fans who loved and waited for me, and the amazing seniors, juniors, fellow soldiers, and officers, I was able to complete my service safely.”
He went on to show his respect for those still serving, saying, “I want to send my deepest respect and gratitude to all service members protecting our country at this very moment.”
In his closing remarks, the actor added, “I sincerely thank my fans who have always supported me. I will greet you soon with new projects and a better version of myself.”
Kim Min Kyu made his acting debut in 2013 with the drama Monstar and has since built an impressive career with a wide range of performances. He has appeared in series like Signal, Because This Is My First Life, Perfume, The King’s Affection, Backstreet Rookie, and Snowdrop.

But it was his role in Business Proposal that garnered him popularity. He gained the loving moniker "Glasses Guy" from fans worldwide for his portrayal of Cha Sung-hoon, the devoted and kind secretary to CEO Kang Tae-moo.
