Ever since BTS' SUGA commenced his mandatory public service in September 2023, fans eagerly waited for him to begin his military duties. Recent reports confirm SUGA's entry into military service at the Nonsan Training Centre.
Dispatch reports that SUGA has kicked off a three-week basic military training program at Nonsan, followed by his remaining service commitments. Departing from the usual sequence, the 31-year-old rapper chose to fulfill his public service duties before undergoing basic training, a strategic move to secure preferred roles.
BIGHIT MUSIC stated to Dispatch, “According to the system of [starting] service in advance, SUGA began his work first. He enlisted in the recruit training center today.”
SUGA's bandmate Jin bid him farewell. As BTS' oldest member, Jin serves as a drill instructor at the 5th Division Recruit Training Center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do. Fans were delighted to see Jin supporting SUGA by accompanying him to the training center, with some even calculating the distance Jin traveled to meet him.
Despite his military commitments, SUGA continues to engage fans with exciting content. Following the conclusion of the SUCHWITA series, his agency announced the upcoming concert film Agust D TOUR D-DAY THE MOVIE, offering fans an immersive experience of the Agust D Tour through electrifying performances.
SUGA enlisted for military service on September 22, 2023, and is expected to be discharged on June 21, 2025, eagerly anticipated to reunite with his bandmates thereafter. Unlike other recruits that typically undergo basic training before assuming their assigned roles, SUGA opted to start his service as a public service worker before completing his basic training.
Unlike the conventional route where recruits typically undergo basic training before assuming their assigned roles, SUGA opted to start his service as a public service worker before completing his basic training, as permitted by current enlistment regulations.
Meanwhile Jin recently posted a message as he counts down to be discharged from the South Korean military.
