The K-pop world is no stranger to fan rivalries, but this time, the debate has nothing to do with chart-topping singles or award shows. Instead, BTS’ Jungkook and Blackpink’s Rosé have found their fandoms at odds over an unexpected subject - the popularity of their beloved pets, Bam and Hank, on Instagram.

The clash erupted on August 19 after a publication claimed that Rosé’s dog Hank was the most followed celebrity dog on Instagram. Jungkook’s fans were quick to reply, pointing out that Bam’s account (@bowwow_bam) boasts an impressive 7.7 million followers, far surpassing Hank’s (@hank_says_hank) 4.6 million.

The dispute gained traction, with hashtags and heated comments flooding social media.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) fumed, “Are we stealing dog’s records as well?? JK’s Bam is the second most followed pet overall after Jiffpom. Rosé’s Hank is NOWHERE on top. STOP LYING.”

Another wrote: “Bam not only has more followers but higher engagement too. Now even dogs’ achievements are being stolen?” A third added, “That dog isn’t the most followed on Instagram. Not that it’d be a crime if he were—but facts are still a thing, right?”

To clear the record, Jiffpom - a Pomeranian famed for his adorable videos - remains the reigning champion with close to 10 million followers.

Jungkook’s Bam sits comfortably at number two, making him not only the most followed celebrity-owned dog, but also one of the most beloved pets on the platform.

The debate has also reignited fan nostalgia for Bam’s earlier appearances with Jungkook. The Golden Maknae introduced Jeon Bam—yes, he even gave him the family surname—during In the SOOP BTS ver. 2 in 2021, after teasing him as his phone lockscreen. During Jungkook’s nearly two-year Instagram hiatus, Bam’s account served as a rare window into his offstage life, often showing the singer’s softer, domestic side with his Doberman companion.

Meanwhile, Rosé’s Hank has his own touching story. The Blackpink star adopted him on December 2, 2020, from a shelter after he was abandoned. The pup has since become a fan favorite, often appearing in cozy home updates that highlight Rosé’s nurturing side.
