BTS' ARMYs reimagines 'Bridgerton' with the K-pop band's songs other than 'Dynamite'

Netflix and Shondaland’s hit period drama 'Bridgerton', adapted from Julia Quinn’s novel series, has finally returned with its highly anticipated Season 3. This season brings beloved characters Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) to the forefront, much to the delight of fans.

While the infamous carriage scene featuring the orchestral version of Pitbull’s 2011 hit 'Give Me Everything' has been a major talking point, another musical moment has also captivated viewers – the classical cover of BTS’s 'Dynamite'.

In 2022, the Vitamin String Quartet teased BTS fans (known as ARMYs) on Twitter (now X), asking which BTS song they would like to hear in Season 3 of 'Bridgerton'. Ahead of the season’s release, Netflix confirmed that BTS’s 'Dynamite' would be among the orchestral covers included in the show. This news excited ARMYs, as they anticipated the inclusion of their favourite band in the series.

However, the reaction was mixed. Many fans had hoped for 'Black Swan', a song they felt would be a perfect fit for Bridgerton’s elegant and dramatic atmosphere. Despite their initial disappointment, ARMYs watched the new season with an open mind. The Vitamin String Quartet’s version of 'Dynamite' appears in Episode 2, during a ball where Eloise interacts with her new lady friends. The familiar tune playing in the background brought a sense of pride to many BTS fans as they saw their favourite band's music integrated into the show.

An ARMY named Eliott (@onceiwasbeloved on TikTok) expressed their continued disappointment with the song choice and took matters into their own hands. They shared clips from 'Bridgerton' featuring orchestral versions of other popular BTS songs. One clip, set to 'Black Swan', garnered 303.3K views, while another featuring 'Pied Piper' went viral with 1.3M views. Eliott also created scenes with 'Fake Love' and 'Mikrokosmos', reimagining iconic moments from the series with these fan-favourite tracks. Their creative efforts demonstrated how different BTS songs could have added depth and emotion to the scenes.

Despite the creative reimaginings by fans, it is unlikely that 'Bridgerton' will feature BTS’ more beloved songs. As some have pointed out, 'Dynamite' was distributed by Universal Music Group (UMG), making it more accessible for the show's use. Securing the rights for other BTS songs could be far more complicated and
expensive.

Nevertheless, 'Bridgerton' Season 3, Part 1 is out now, with Part 2 set to release on June 13. Fans of both 'Bridgerton' and BTS can enjoy the delightful fusion of period drama and contemporary pop, even if their dream songs didn’t make it into the series.
