Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has opened up about one of the strangest days of his career, and it involves alcohol, early mornings, and co-star Maniesh Paul.

During a recent chat with Pinkvilla, Varun Dhawan admitted he once started drinking on set as early as 7:30 am to nail a scene for Jug Jugg Jeeyo back in 2022.

“It was the climax scene with Anil Kapoor, where I had to give a drunk speech,” Varun Dhawan recalled. “So Maniesh Paul and I thought, let’s actually drink. By 2 pm, we were completely slurring.”

The actor laughed while remembering how the experiment didn’t exactly work out. The team couldn’t finish the scene that day, which meant Varun Dhawan had to repeat the same drill the next day as well. “We had to drink again the following morning,” he revealed.

Varun Dhawan’s next film on the horizon

While that chaotic shoot memory still makes him smile, Varun Dhawan is now gearing up for his next big release, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the romantic comedy also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf. The film is set to hit theatres on October 2.

The plot revolves around Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor teaming up to make their exes jealous, sparking a mix of wedding drama, confusion, and comedy.

The release, however, is clashing with Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1. When asked about the box office battle, Varun Dhawan responded candidly during a fan session on X: “Release date toh production wale set karte hain. Par hum apni film pe mehnant kar rahe hain aur logo ko hassane ki koshish.”

Varun Dhawan’s last outing, Baby John in 2024, failed to impress at the box office. But with the buzz around his new film and his willingness to laugh at past on-set chaos, fans are hopeful for a strong comeback.
