The team behind The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond has spoken out after reports claimed that the film’s teaser had been taken down following intervention by the Kerala High Court.
Putting the rumours to rest, production house Sunshine Pictures has clearly stated that these claims are not true.
In an official statement, the makers described the reports as “completely false, baseless, and misleading,” stressing that no court has ordered the removal of any promotional material.
The clarification comes after news broke that the Kerala High Court had agreed to watch the film ahead of its release, which led to widespread speculation about possible restrictions.
Addressing the situation directly, Sunshine Pictures said, “Sunshine Pictures would like to categorically clarify that the news currently circulating regarding the removal of The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond teaser is completely false, baseless, and misleading. The matter is presently subjudice. No judgement or order has been passed by any court directing the removal of any content.”
The producers also made it clear that nothing has been deleted. “We have not deleted or taken down any material. Both the teaser and the trailer of The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond continue to remain available across all our official platforms,” they added.
The controversy began after a petition was filed in the Kerala High Court challenging the film’s certification. According to PTI, the petitioner alleged that the Central Board of Film Certification cleared the film without proper compliance under the Cinematograph Act, 1952.
The petition raises concerns about the teaser and trailer, claiming that although the narrative involves women from multiple states, branding it as The Kerala Story could unfairly associate serious allegations — including terrorism and forced conversion — specifically with Kerala.
“Such a portrayal has the potential to stigmatise an entire regional population, disturb public order, and incite communal and regional disharmony”, the petition has said.
With the case currently under consideration, the makers have urged people to avoid jumping to conclusions. For now, they maintain that no legal directive has asked them to remove or alter any promotional content, and they are awaiting further court proceedings.
