Sunjay Kapur's sister Mandhira Kapur Smith pays tribute on his birth anniversary along with unseen family pics: "The world feels quieter without you"

Mandhira shared a series of emotional family photos featuring Sunjay, his children Samaira and Kiaan, and other family members.

Mandhira Kapur Smith, sister of the late businessman Sunjay Kapur, paid a heartfelt tribute to him on what would have been his 54th birthday on October 15.

Sunjay, who passed away in London during a polo match, left behind an estate reportedly valued at Rs 30,000 crore, which has since become the centre of a major legal dispute.

Mandhira shared a series of emotional family photos featuring Sunjay, his children Samaira and Kiaan, and other family members. Along with the pictures, she wrote a moving note remembering her brother.

“Happy Birthday, my dearest Bhaiya,” she began, adding that the day brought back countless childhood memories — their laughter, birthday candles, and his ever-charming grin. She described him as “fearless, radiant, and endlessly kind,” a man who carried their family’s legacy with strength and pride.

She continued, saying Sunjay took forward their father’s legacy and made it shine even brighter, inspiring everyone around him. “The world feels quieter without you,” she wrote, “but your presence still surrounds us — in the love and values you left behind. We hold on to your truth, loyalty, and grace, and protect your memory from any shadow that tries to distort who you were.”

In her emotional message, Mandhira said she misses her brother deeply but still feels his and their father’s guiding presence. “You and Dad remain our eternal light, reminding us to live with courage, honour, and love. Your light will never fade, Bhaiya — you live on in our hearts and in every heartbeat of this family.”

Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12 at the age of 53 after suffering a heart attack during a polo match in the UK. Reports suggested that he had accidentally swallowed a bee during the game. A week after his passing, Mandhira revealed that she and her brother had not spoken for over four years due to personal differences.

The birthday tribute comes at a time when Sunjay’s estate is the subject of a bitter legal battle. His children from his marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor — Samaira and Kiaan — have reportedly challenged his will, claiming it was forged to exclude them.

Sunjay was married three times — first to Nandita Mahtani, then to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, with whom he had Samaira and Kiaan, and finally to Priya Sachdev Kapur in 2017. He also had a young son, Azarius, with Priya.
