Shah Rukh Khan's song Dard-e-Disco goes viral

Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday celebrations this year took an emotional turn as a video of his fans singing the iconic song Dard-e-Disco in unison went viral on social media. What began as a nostalgic theatre screening of Om Shanti Om on SRK’s 60th birthday soon transformed into a full-blown emotional collective, some even calling it “therapeutic.”

The clip shows a packed cinema hall with fans screaming the famous line, “dil tod gaya mujhe chhod gaya wo pichhle mahine ki chhabbis ko."

As the chorus echoed through the theatre, emotions were high, not from heartbreak, but from pure celebration. Fans posted that shouting the lines together felt like a “release” and a “strange kind of group therapy.” One user even wrote, “Only SRK fans can turn pain into party and a breakup anthem into a communal cleanse.”

Farah Khan, who directed Om Shanti Om, responded to the viral video. “Amazing.. after all these years,” she wrote in the comments.

Her comment summed it up - the film may have released in 2007, but the fandom feels as fresh as ever.

The screening was part of a larger tribute event where seven SRK films were played in cinemas on November 1 and 2, marking the actor’s 60th birthday. The screening morphed into a mini-festival.

This year’s celebration wasn’t just about watching a film, it was about re-living a feeling. Fans danced in the aisles, waved cell phone flashlights like lighter flames, and lip-synced dialogues before bursting into applause as SRK appeared on screen.

What stood out about the viral clip was not just the nostalgia, but the unity. In a time when collective joy is rare and screens isolate more than they connect, this cinematic sing-along became an emotional outlet.
