Actress Rakul Preet Singh recently shared her unfiltered thoughts on the rising culture of paid public relations in Bollywood, describing it as both unnecessary and deeply negative. In a recent interview, the actor emphasised that while a basic level of visibility is unavoidable in the industry, genuine talent and consistent work ultimately speak louder than aggressive publicity tactics.

Addressing the increasing reliance on PR-driven relevance, Rakul spoke about how actors today often feel pressured to stay in the spotlight through constant media presence rather than letting their performances do the talking. She expressed concern over how extreme some publicity strategies have become, especially when they turn hostile or target fellow actors.

Speaking candidly about such practices, she said, “We all have to do a little bit of PR. We have to have a little presence. And there are some people who even go to the extent of bashing other people. I mean, how negative can you be in life? How do you sleep with yourself? My biggest question is that. And I feel like good work, God is there. God will see. Good karma gets back good karma. It gives you rewards. And I come from that school of thought. My mind doesn’t naturally run on PR.”

Rakul further reiterated her belief that honesty, patience and dedication eventually find their own reward, without the need for manufactured hype. She made it clear that her personal philosophy has always been rooted in letting her work define her journey rather than depending heavily on publicity machinery.

On the professional front, Rakul was last seen in De De Pyaar De 2, where she starred alongside Ajay Devgn. The film opened to mixed reviews from both audiences and critics and reportedly earned around Rs 105 crore worldwide, falling short of its reported budget of Rs 150 crore.

The actor also opened up about the relentless scrutiny celebrities face from paparazzi and the constant pressure to appear camera-ready whenever they step out. Admitting that she does not overthink being photographed, Rakul shared a light-hearted personal anecdote to explain her approach.

She further said, “My mother calls me sometimes, ‘What are you wearing? You got papped in those same jeans fifth time this month’. So, like, people make an effort every time they go out. How do the paps come here? Sometimes you’re dressed, and sometimes you’re not. And it’s okay. So, I just feel that you don’t put so much pressure on yourself.”

Looking ahead, Rakul Preet Singh will next be seen in Mudassar Aziz’s upcoming film Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. The film also stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Wamiqa Gabbi and is expected to explore a contemporary take on relationships with the director’s signature humour.
