The horror-comedy Bhoot Police is reportedly set to get a sequel, with filmmaker Priyadarshan likely coming on board as the director.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Bhoot Police 2 is officially in development, and the makers have roped in veteran director Priyadarshan to helm the project. As per sources quoted by the publication, Priyadarshan is said to be charging a fee of Rs 21 crore for directing the sequel. The source stated, “The filmmaker is charging a fee of Rs 21 crore for the project."
The report further revealed that while the sequel will continue to stay within the horror-comedy space, there will be a major change in casting. Another source shared, “While the sequel retains the core idea of a horror-comedy, the casting will see a complete refresh. Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor will not be returning for the second installment. Instead, the makers are planning to introduce a new pairing that can bring a fresh energy to the franchise.”
Elaborating on the new direction, the source added, “The idea is to reinvent the franchise with a new duo. The makers are looking at two actors — one senior and one junior to create an interesting combo. It’s a proper horror comedy, staying true to the genre but more of a theatrical treatment, added a source close to the development.”
The film is expected to go on floors by the end of the year, once the casting process is finalised and pre-production work is completed. With Priyadarshan taking charge, Bhoot Police 2 is being planned on a bigger scale.

Meanwhile, Priyadarshan is currently busy with his upcoming film Haiwaan, which marks the reunion of Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar on screen after their 2008 film Tashan. The project is backed by KVN Productions’ Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn’s Thespian Films, and also stars Saiyami Kher.
As horror-comedies continue to resonate with audiences, Bhoot Police 2 is poised for a fresh chapter with a new cast and director. The sequel will be produced by Ramesh Taurani and Akshai Puri.
