Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer War 2 created a buzz before its release, but failed to receive the expected response from the audience. The film emerged as a disappointment among the viewers and at the box office.
However, Hrithik has recently reacted to War 2’s failure with a hint of humour.
Hrithik recently attended a launch event at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. After the host welcomed Hrithik on stage, he engaged in conversation with him while making fun of his movie War 2.
The host said, “It feels amazing to be sharing the stage with such a big global icon. We were just discussing earlier how it's been so many years since we've been seeing you on screen. Oh, what a moment this is guys. A big round of applause for the superstar himself over here.”
The audience clapped for the actor to which he responded, “That's very kind of you... You know, my film just bombed at the box office, so it feels very good to get all the love, Thank you.”
War 2 hit the theatres on August 14. The spy action thriller, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, was highly anticipated when it debuted in theatres over the weekend of Independence Day. But the action thriller didn't live up to box office expectations and got mostly negative reviews.
The movie, which is directed by Ayan Mukerji, is the sixth entry in the YRF Spy Universe, following Tiger 3, War, Pathaan, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Ek Tha Tiger.
In addition to Hrithik and Jr. NTR, Ashutosh Rana and Kiara Advani play pivotal roles in the movie. The filmmakers received a lot of flak for their dull writing and subpar visuals.
Besides this, War 2 clashed with Rajinikanth’s Coolie at the box office. The film was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 400 crore and managed to earn only Rs 236.55 crore net in India and Rs 364.35 crore worldwide.
