Despite making a much-hyped acting debut in The White Lotus Season 3, the 28-year-old K-pop superstar was snubbed in the acting categories. Instead, she received a nomination in the Outstanding Choreography in Variety or Reality Programming category — not for acting, but for her Oscars performance alongside Doja Cat and Raye.
The trio delivered a high-octane tribute to James Bond at the 2025 Academy Awards in March, performing Live and Let Die, Diamonds Are Forever, and Skyfall. Though the show was praised for its stunning visuals and stagecraft, Lisa’s fans expressed frustration online that her acting work went unrecognized.
“She absolutely owned her scenes in The White Lotus. She deserved a Best Supporting Actress nomination!” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Others called out the Emmys for overlooking global talent. “Glad she’s still recognized — but Emmy voters need to catch up with global talent,” another user added.
However, the backlash didn’t stop at the snub. Some netizens criticized her choreography nomination itself, arguing that the Emmy nod should honor choreographer Mandy Moore — not the performers. “The award isn’t even for Lisa. It’s for the choreographer,” one comment read. “It’s like when Blackpink’s ‘Money’ won a VMA — it was the choreographer being honored, not the artist.”

The controversy took another turn as some linked Lisa’s nomination to her rumored boyfriend, luxury heir Frédéric Arnault. “Her boyfriend bought her the nomination,” an X user alleged. “She doesn’t have a strong enough role in The White Lotus for a nom. This is all connections.”
Others dragged up the ongoing lip-sync controversy from her Oscars performance. “What outstanding choreography? That whole thing was pre-recorded,” one wrote. “This is just a consolation prize for surviving the backlash.”
Lisa and Frédéric Arnault have been under public scrutiny since 2023, after being spotted together at multiple luxury events including the TAG Heuer x KITH Event and the Monaco Grand Prix. While the two have yet to confirm their relationship, speculation remains intense — and now, it's entangled in Lisa’s awards season narrative.
