An unexpected moment from the O’Romeo trailer buzz is now putting the spotlight on Avinash Tiwary, and not just because he looks terrifying on screen.

At a recent interaction around the trailer release, Avinash laughed about the way audiences react to his transformations. “People keep saying me you look unrecognisable but ye har part mein sunte sunte nowc, please try to recognize me this is Avinash Tiwary,” he said, pointing to a strange irony: disappearing into characters has become his signature, but it also means the “face” rarely gets its due. It’s a complaint only a serious chameleon can pull off.

That line lands perfectly with what the O’Romeo trailer actually shows. In the middle of Shahid Kapoor’s blood-soaked rampage and the film’s feverish, music-led tone, Avinash flashes in sequences that feel primal and unsettling, including a striking bull-arena moment that instantly reads as menace. Early trailer breakdowns peg him as a major villain presence, dressed in a matador-like look in at least one beat, making him feel less like a regular antagonist and more like the story’s looming shadow.

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, O’Romeo positions Shahid as Hussain Ustara, an anti-hero who calls himself a “hero” even as he brutalises rivals, dances through carnage, and falls hard for Triptii Dimri’s character.

The trailer suggests romance, obsession, and revenge colliding on Mumbai’s gritty streets, with Nana Patekar adding weight as a cop-like figure who looks ready to break the protagonist’s delusion of invincibility.

The film is slated to release in theatres on February 13, 2026, right before Valentine’s Day, and the ensemble only adds to the intrigue, with Disha Patani teased in a glamorous number and Vikrant Massey appearing in a special role.

Off-screen, the project has also attracted attention due to discussions around its “inspired by true events” pitch and debate over permissions. Vishal Bhardwaj has addressed why he did not seek consent from Hussain Ustara’s family, adding another layer to the conversation around the film even before release.
