Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, known for her helming hit films including Bareilly Ki Barfi, Nil Battey Sannata, and Panga among others, had announced a biopic on Infosys founder Sudha Murthy and Narayana Murthy. It's been four years since the announcement and fans have been waiting for the update.
However, the director has finally shared an update on the biopic and revealed the real reason behind the continuous delay. She also gave an update on her other projects.
In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Ashwiny said, “We’re still writing that. It’s taking far too long, but I would love to tell their story." The director revealed that she is currently focusing on her production ventures before starting her own directorial.
The filmmaker said, “I’m producing a few films. We now have a tie-up with Tips. Ramesh (Taurani) ji’s daughter Jaya was the one who wanted me to partner with them. I got so many calls as this association came as a surprise, since such partnerships usually happen between two men in positions of power. But this is how change happens. This is the kind of association that will allow us to tell more stories for and by women."
She further noted that her primary goal is not to create a commercially driven film, but to craft a compelling narrative that resonates with audiences, executed with perfection. She also emphasized the need for filmmakers to challenge themselves.
She added, “No one knows what’s working. We need to question ourselves as to how willing we are to tell fearless stories that are commercially viable at the same time.”
Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari has kept further details of the upcoming biopic under wraps. Additionally, the viewers have to wait a bit more to finally watch the biopic as it is still under pre-production.
