Bollywood celebrities are celebrating Baisakhi and flaunting their festivities on social media. However, Arjun Kapoor has recently reflected on the significance of the festival and also recalled his favourite childhood Baisakhi memory.
During a recent interview with Bollywood Times, Arjun Kapoor revealed that “Gurdwara aur khaana” was his favorite memory from the festivity. The actor revealed that his maternal grandparents were from Ambala, and his grandparents are also Punjabis.
He added, “They celebrate every festival with food… Toh ghar par jo khaana pakta tha, it was a mark of celebration for that particular festival, and Baisakhi was no different (So the food that was cooked at home, it was a mark of celebration for that particular festival, and Baisakhi was different).”
Arjun Kapoor further recalled that he remembers going to gurudwara and enjoying langar when he was younger. He recalled, “Aur langar lagte the wahaan par toh halwa khaane mein bohot mazaa aata tha. Halwa poori milti thi (And langars were organised there, it was fun to eat halwa there. Halwa Puri was also available).”
He added, “Jo halwa hota tha, uska ghee chipak jaaye na toh poori plate mein shine dikhaayi deti thi. Mujhe woh bohot yaad hai. I find a lot of sukoon in visiting the gurudwara (Halwa’s ghee would get stuck, it would shine on the whole plate. I remember it very much. I find a lot of peace in visiting the Gurudwara).”
The actor also reflected on how the festivals in India have evolved with time. He emphasized how festivals are about respecting the essence rather than just following the rituals. Arjun also appreciated how festivals bring people together and wished the film industry could have one day to celebrate the professionals’ efforts.

Arjun also emphasised respecting the festival even if people don’t celebrate. The actor recognised the inevitable change with the advent of technology and the lifestyle.
He said, “When I was growing up, our parents would say that festivals weren’t celebrated like this, and now we’ve reached that stage ourselves.” He added, “Not everybody has the bandwidth to celebrate every function... But as long as there is respect and regard, as long as there’s an honest understanding of what the festivals mean — aap celebrate nahi bhi karo lekin festival ki izzat karo — that’s as respectful as it can be.”
On the work front, Arjun Kapoor was last seen in Mere Husband Ki Biwi with Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh. The film, which also star comedian Harsh Gujral, was a huge flop at the box office.
