Sharing a picture of R Ashwin from the cricket ground, Ranveer took to his Instagram stories and wrote, "One of the greatest ever to do it. Thank you for the memories," he accompanied his tribute with a bat and ball emoji.

Bollywood actress and wife of Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma took to her Instagram stories and reposted Ashwin's video and described his career as "a lasting legacy."

Singham Again fame, Arjun Kapoor also shared a picture of the Indian bowler from one of his celebratory on-ground moments and wrote, "To the man who gave us moments to celebrate, matches to remember, and pride that can't be measured. Earlier, cricketer and Anushka's husband Virat Kohli had also written a heartfelt note for Ashwin. "I’ve played with you for 14 years, and when you told me today you’re retiring, it made me a bit emotional, and the flashbacks of all those years playing together came to me. I’ve enjoyed every bit of the journey with you, Ash. Your skill and match-winning contributions to Indian cricket are second to none, and you will always be remembered as a legend of Indian cricket. Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday, shortly after the conclusion of the third Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia at the Gabba. He confirmed that December 18 marked his final day representing India at the international level.
