Amitabh Bachchan on Pahalgam attack

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has finally spoken out after weeks of posting cryptic blank posts on social media. He has expressed his support for the Indian government's response, Operation Sindoor, and his profound sadness and anguish over the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

26 innocent tourists were brutally murdered during the attack on April 22 while on vacation in the picturesque Pahalgam region. One of them was a newlywed couple who had only been on honeymoon for three days. Bachchan told the heartbreaking tale of a couple who were singled out by terrorists who pretended to be tour guides.

The husband was dragged away and asked about his religious beliefs. In spite of his wife's fervent requests, he was brutally put to death in front of her when it was revealed that he was Hindu. The terrorist told her, chillingly, "Go and tell Modi" after sparing her life.

Reflecting on the widow's grief, Big B recalled a poignant line from a poem by his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan: “Hai cheeta ki raakh kar main maangti, sindoor duniya” — a widow holding the ashes of her husband is ironically asked for her vermilion, a sacred symbol of marital bliss.

Deeply moved, the actor described how the widow visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recounting the horror. In response, Modi reportedly said, "Go... I have given sindoor," referring to the military operation launched against terrorist camps in Pakistan.

Nine terrorist bases across the border were targeted and destroyed as part of Operation Sindoor, which was a direct retaliation that was started on May 7. Bachchan praised the operation's name's symbolic meaning, which pays homage to the widowed women and promises to restore their dignity.

Amitabh Bachchan praised the Modi government on Operation Sindoor. "SO ..the government, who have been telling the neighbouring authorities to stop terrorist camps and activities in our country, has never been heeded ..Hence Modi and the government decided to respond to the terrorist base camps in the neighbours and launched a military procedure .. the results of which are well known .. 9 of their terrorist camps and outfits were destroyed .. militarily .. AND ..this is important to note .. the military Operation was titled: OPERATION SINDOOR .. Brilliant thought .. it signified that the demons wiped out the sindoor from the the married women, made them widows and India through the attack and naming it Operation Sindoor signified symbolically that we shall fight to restore it .. and they did," the Shehenshah actor added.

Concluding with verses from Agnipath, Big B urged Indians and the armed forces alike to remain resolute: “You shall never stop... you shall never turn back... Path of Fire!”

His message was clear: the fight against terror must continue with unwavering determination, and the pain of Pahalgam will never be forgotten.
