Ajay Devgn unveils Raid 2 release date and powerful new poster, details inside

Ajay Devgn and Vaani Kapoor starrer Raid 2 is directed by Rajkumar Gupta and produced by Bhushan Kumar among others. IRS officer Amay Patnaik will uncover new crimes in the upcoming thriller.

Ajay Devgn will return in Raid sequel

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is all set to return to the silver screen with his upcoming thriller, Raid 2. The actor will star alongside Vaani Kapoor in the film. Fans have been waiting for the release of the film for a long time.

However, Devgn has recently created a buzz on social media with the update on the release date of Raid 2. The actor also shared a new powerful poster of the most-awaited film. Devgn revealed that Raid 2 will be released in theatres on May 1.

The new poster gave an intense look at Ajay Devgn’s character, Amay Patnaik, an income tax officer. The background of the poster showcases stacks of papers arranged in the colours of the Indian flag, symbolizing the theme of financial corruption and tax raids, which were central to the first film.

Alongside the poster, Devgn wrote in the caption, “Naya Shehar. Nayi File. Aur Amay Patnaik Ki Ek Nayi Raid.” He added, “#Raid2 knocking at your doors in cinemas near you on 1st May, 2025.” The actor concluded his post while mentioning his co-stars and makers of the film.

Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, the film also stars Riteish Deshmukh, and Saurabh Shukla among others in key roles. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak. It is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with Panorama Studios.

The plot of the upcoming is currently kept under wraps but is said to follow the return of IRS officer Amay Patnaik who tracks another white-collar crime. The film was filmed in Delhi and Lucknow and was initially scheduled to be released in 2024. However, the film faced multiple delays.

However, the first part of the film is inspired by a real-life event, the historic income-tax raid on Sardar Inder Singh in the 1980s. The record-breaking duration of the raid makes it more fascinating, spanning an impressive three days and two nights, earning it a place in Indian history as the longest tax raid ever conducted.
