Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has recently been highlighted on the official social media pages of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Academy posted a video clip featuring Aishwarya from the 2008 historical drama film, Jodha Akbar, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.
The Academy's announcement revealed that the elaborate wedding lehenga worn by Aishwarya's character, Jodha, in the film will be part of an exhibition at the prestigious Academy Museum. The social media post read, "A lehenga fit for a queen, designed for the silver screen. In JODHA AKBAR (2008), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s red wedding lehenga is a feast for the eyes: vibrant zardozi embroidery, centuries-old craftsmanship, and a hidden gem—quite literally. Look closely and you’ll spot a peacock, India’s national bird, made entirely of jewels. Neeta Lulla didn’t design a costume; she crafted a legacy. Step into history (and color) at the Academy Museum's COLOR IN MOTION exhibition."
The video shared alongside the announcement includes scenes from Jodha Akbar, where Aishwarya Rai portrays the Rajput princess Jodha Bai, opposite Hrithik Roshan's portrayal of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. The video also offers a glimpse of the lehenga as it is today, displayed on a mannequin, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship and timeless beauty of the attire.
Netizens were quick to express their excitement and admiration for this recognition. One user commented, "Finally Indian iconic movies are getting featured on the Academy page." Another expressed their delight, saying, "It was so cool to see this representation in-person at the exhibit! More of this please." A third user remarked, "So Academy finally recognised Aishwarya Rai's movie," while another added, "Dear Hollywood, can you beat these aesthetics?" The excitement was palpable, with another fan exclaiming, "Oscars posted about Aishwarya Rai, omg."

The 97th Academy Awards are scheduled to take place on March 3, 2025.
