Chamberlain’s longtime partner, Martin Rabbett, released a poignant statement reflecting on the actor's remarkable life. "He is free and soaring to those loved ones before us. How blessed were we to have known such an amazing and loving soul. Love never dies. And our love is under his wings, lifting him to his next great adventure."

In recent years, Chamberlain made a return to television, appearing in the much-anticipated revival of Twin Peaks, where he portrayed Bill Kennedy.
His final acting role came in 2018 in the horror anthology Nightmare Cinema, where he played the character Dr Mirari.
