Aamir and Reena Dutta were married in 1986 and share two children—daughter Ira Khan and son Junaid Khan. Although they separated in 2002 after 16 years of marriage, the former couple has maintained a cordial relationship over the years.

Following his divorce from Reena, Aamir married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005. The couple later welcomed a son, Azad, through surrogacy. However, Aamir and Kiran too parted ways in 2021 after 15 years together, but they continue to co-parent Azad and work together professionally.

Kiran Rao has often spoken highly of Reena Dutta and their unique bond. Earlier this year, during an interview with Zoom, Kiran mentioned that Reena never truly left the family, even after her divorce from Aamir. She said, “Reena remained a vital part of the family. When I married Aamir, Reena and I became great friends. She is an incredible human being, and I absolutely love her.”
