Pawan Kumar Bansal lost by 46,970 votes. The Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat has oscillated between the Congress and BJP.

The Election for Chandigarh Lok Sabha Constituency in Chandigarh, which is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, will be held this year. The final schedule for the voting and result of the Chandigarh Lok Sabha election was announced by the Election Commission of India on 16th March. The date of voting for the Chandigarh Lok Sabha Constituency Election 2024 is 1 June (Phase 7). The date of counting and announcement of results for the Chandigarh Lok Sabha Constituency Election 2024 is 4th June.

The notification of the election schedule kick-starts the process of filing of nominations by candidates fielded by all major parties as well as Independents. While some political parties announced their candidate lists ahead of the announcement of polls, others declared candidates as the elections progressed across phases. The candidate list will be updated as and when the candidates are announced. Confirmed candidates so far include Sanjay Tandon from the BJP.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Kirron Kher of the BJP was the winning candidate from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency, securing 231,188 votes, while 184,218 votes were polled in favour of Pawan Kumar Bansal of the INC. Pawan Kumar Bansal lost by 46,970 votes. The Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat has oscillated between the Congress and BJP. The Lok Sabha elections were held here for the first time in 1967 and were won by BJP's Chand Goyal. Before Kirron Kher, Pawan Kumar Bansal of Congress had been an MP from here. Pawan Kumar Bansal has won the elections four times from this seat, out of which he registered victory three times consecutively. Before Bansal, BJP's Satpal Jain had registered consecutive victories twice from here.

In the 2014 mandate, Kirron Kher won the seat for the second consecutive time by defeating Congress candidate Pawan Bansal by 46,970 votes. Kirron Kher received 231,188 votes, and Pawan Bansal got 184,218. AAP's Harmohan Dhawan received only 13,781 votes. The Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat saw a voter turnout of 70.62%. In the 2014 mandate, Kirron Kher became a first-time MP by winning the seat, bagging 191,362 votes. She defeated Congress stalwart and former Railways Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, securing 31% of the total votes.
