Nitin Gadkari, Union minister and BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Nagpur who is aiming to secure a hattrick, has shared his opinion on various issues starting from 'One Nation One Poll',' Uniform Civil Code' and also on the caste dynamics in his Lok Sabha constituency in an exclusive interview with News18. Nitin Gadkari also said that he will win the Lok Sabha seat by more than five lakh votes.
While speaking to News18, Nitin Gadkari said that he has never differentiated people on the basis of caste, creed, religion, language. The Union Minister said that he felt the real meaning of the lines that he has said often – Nagpur Mera hai aur Main Nagpur ka (Nagpur is mine and I am Nagpur’s).
Voting in Nagpur will take place in the first phase on April 19. In 2019, Nitin Gadkari retained the seat by defeating Congress candidate Nana Patole by margin of 2,16,000 votes. The senior BJP leader, seeking a straight third term in the Lower House of Parliament, is now pitted against Congress candidate Vikas Thakre.
On Caste Dynamics
Nitin Gadkari said that voters of Nagpur will repose their faith on the leaders who practice the politics of Vikas (development). Gadkari further expressed hope that people will make him victorious with a record margin and not give divisive politics any chance in Nagpur.
On One Nation, One Poll
Nitin Gadkari said that the 'One Nation, One Poll' will be a welcome step and will help the nation in terms of development. He further said that repeated enforcement of the Code of Conduct causes a lot of loss to the country. People will not keep a government which does not care about their well being, the senior BJP leader said.
On IT, ED, CBI
The Union Minister, when asked about the allegations put by Opposition leaders about the misuse of central agencies against the leaders, said that they are acting as per the evidence available. Gadkari also said that neither Prime Minister nor anyone dictates how the central agencies function.
On Uniform Civil Code (UCC)
On UCC, Gadkari said that most countries have their own civil code which includes many Muslim countries as well. He said once implemented, it will be a very good step in the socio-economic transformation of our country.
Nitin Gadkari emphasised that in his third term he will work towards making Nagpur 'sundar and swachh' (beautiful and clean) and putting it among top five cities in the country in terms of development, sanitation and hygiene.
