Dhule, situated in the state of Maharashtra, is not only a district but also a significant Lok Sabha constituency. Historically, the Dhule region was inhabited primarily by tribal populations, contributing to its rich cultural diversity. However, on July 1, 1998, the region was administratively divided into two separate districts, Dhule and Nandurbar, each with its distinct identity and administrative setup.
Despite its predominantly rural character, Dhule district also encompasses urban areas, with approximately 26.11% of the population residing in urban centers.
Initially, the seat witnessed a victory for Uttamrao Lakshan Patil from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in the first election held in 1957. However, this was followed by a prolonged period of Congress dominance, which lasted for 35 years starting from the 1962 election.

Chudaman Ananda Patil notably won three consecutive elections from 1962 to 1971, while Reshma Motiram Bhoye clinched victories in 1980, 1984, and 1989.
The political landscape of Dhule witnessed a shift in 1991 when Bapu Hari Choure emerged victorious in the Lok Sabha election, marking a departure from Congress dominance. Since then, the constituency has alternated between the Congress and BJP, with the BJP securing victories in the last three elections held in 2009, 2014, and 2019.
