The Hamirpur parliamentary constituency comprises 17 assembly seats, namely Dehra, Bhoranj, Barsar, Jaswan-Pragpur, Sujanpur, Nadaun, Dharampur, Hamirpur, Chintpurni, Gagret, Una, Kutlehar, Jhanduta, Ghumarwin, Bilaspur, Shri Naina Deviji, and Haroli. According to the Election Commission of India, this Lok Sabha constituency boasts a total of 12.47 lakh voters, highlighting its significant electoral importance within the state.
Hamirpur, often called the "land of the brave" for the valor and sacrifices of soldiers hailing from the region in military service, stands as one of the four Lok Sabha constituencies in Himachal Pradesh. The economy of Hamirpur predominantly relies on agriculture and various small-scale industries, with tourism serving as a significant contributor to its economic landscape. Established in 1972 following its separation from the Kangra district, Hamirpur also serves as an educational hub of the state, boasting several esteemed educational institutions. The region boasts a commendable literacy rate of approximately 89.01%. Hamirpur votes on June 1.

Politically, the Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat has been a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Out of 16 elections held from 1967 to 2019, the BJP emerged victorious 10 times. Union Minister Anurag Thakur has consistently secured victory in this seat three times, following in the footsteps of his father and former chief minister of the state, Prem Kumar Dhumal, who also served as a three-term parliamentarian representing Hamirpur.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP's Anurag Singh Thakur secured victory in the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency for the third consecutive time, garnering 6,82,692 votes. His closest rival, Congress's Ram Lal Thakur, received 2,83,120 votes.

Similarly, in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Anurag Thakur emerged victorious with a margin of 98,000 votes. He received 4.48 lakh votes, while Congress candidate Rajendra Singh Rana secured 3.49 lakh votes. The Aam Aadmi Party's Kamal Kant Batra stood third with approximately 15,000 votes.
