Congress' Deepender Hooda, who is contesting from his home constituency Rohtak is won the constituency by a margin over 3.4 lakh votes.
As per the data available in the Election Commission of India (ECI) website, Hooda garnered 7.45 lakh votes while his rival BJP's Arvind Sharma got about 4.38 lakh votes.
Voting for all the 10 constituencies in Haryana took place on May 25 during the sixth phase of the seven-phase general election. BJP and Congress are contesting against each other in nine of the 10 constituencies. BJP is contesting against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency.
About Rohtak constituency:
Rohtak is an important constituency for the BJP as the party aims to continue its winning streak in this former Congress stronghold. It comprises of nine legislative assembly constituencies from Rohtak, Jhajjar district and Rewari districts. Among these nine constituencies that include Meham, Jhajjar, Dadli, Kalanpur and Rohtak.
In 2024, Deepender Hooda and Arvind Sharma contesting against each other in Rohtak. While Hooda is seeking a fourth victory from his strong hold, Sharma is seeking a second straight term in the constituency. The 2024 election is considered a battle of prestige for Hooda as well as his father and former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Despite being considered a Congress stronghold, BJP's Arvind Sharma won in this seat defeating Deepender Singh Hooda by a margin of 7,503 votes which was 0.61% of the total votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 46.84% in 2019 in this seat.
In the 2014 election, Hooda won the Rohtak constituency by garnering a vote share of 48.86 percent.
