Chandni Chowk Parliamentary Constituency (Constituency No. 1), one of the seven parliamentary constituencies representing the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, is renowned for its historical and political significance. Often referred to as Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk is a bustling, densely populated area with deep-rooted political traditions.
As per the Election Commission of India's 2009 report, Chandni Chowk had a total of 1,413,535 voters. The 2014 elections saw 7,91,317 male voters and 6,55,911 female voters. It has been a battleground for prominent political figures over the years, such as Radha Raman of Congress, Vijay Goel, and Kapil Sibal. Since its establishment, the constituency has witnessed 14 Lok Sabha elections from 1957 to 2014. The Indian National Congress (INC) has won here nine times, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has claimed victory four times.

In the 2009 Election, Kapil Sibal of the Congress won with a significant margin, securing 59.67% of the total votes, defeating BJP's Vijendra Gupta. In the 2014 Election, Dr. Harsh Vardhan of BJP won against Ashutosh of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and veteran Congress leader Kapil Sibal, with a narrow margin of 363 votes over his closest rival. In the 2019 Election, Dr. Harsh Vardhan retained the seat for BJP, garnering 5,19,055 votes. Congress's Jai Prakash Aggarwal and AAP's Pankaj Kumar Gupta secured 2,90,910 and 1,44,551 votes, respectively.
The Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha Constituency will participate in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, which are part of the seven-phase general election. The voting date for Chandni Chowk is set for May 7, during the third phase of the election. Results will be announced on June 4. The 2024 elections will be a crucial test for both the BJP and the INC as they vie for control of the Chandni Chowk seat. The outcome here will not only impact the local governance but also contribute to the broader political narrative in the national capital.
