Union home minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah claimed that the NDA bloc in Bihar will return to power with a landslide victory securing 2/3rd seats in the upcoming assembly election in the state.

“See providing exact number is difficult but I want to say that we will win more than 2/3rd majority in Bihar. And by we, I mean the NDA bloc will win the election under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Nitish Kumar,” Shah said during an exclusive interview with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi on October 29.

In addition, Shah said in all the regions he has visited in the state, he can see a wave in favour of the ruling NDA bloc.

"Wherever I have travelled in Bihar, I can clearly see a wave in NDA's favour and the seat's margin will also see an unprecedented rise," Shah said.

Explaining why there is pro-incumbency despite the current regime's 20-year long reign in the state, Shah said it all depends on how the government functions. "If the government is run well, then the strength increases. The last 11 years of double-engine government and before that the alliance between JDU and BJP has brought several changes in the state."

The minister said in the last 11 years alone, over 8 crore poor people received 5 kg free ration and several lakh farmers receive Rs 6,000 every year. Shah pointed out that the people of Bihar have received several benefits such as houses, issuance of Ayushaman Bharat card that provides insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh and opening of bank accounts in the last few years.

Toilets, drinking water and several other benefits have also reached the people of Bihar, he said.

"If I add all of these, you can understand how much big of a wave it can create in our favour. There is no corner in Bihar that is not connected to Bihar in under 5 hours," Shah said.

The kind of roads the state has built in the last 11 years has been tremendous, putting Bihar on the track of fast growth has happened under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and PM Modi.

Bihar will vote in two phases on November 6 and 11 and the results will be declared on November 14.
