The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has introduced a new 'Online Application Portal' to simplify the registration and application process for various competitive examinations. The new portal, available at upsconline.nic.in, replaces the old 'One Time Registration (OTR)' system and offers a more structured and time-efficient approach for candidates.
Key Features of the New Portal
The UPSC Online Application Portal is divided into four distinct sections:
1. Account Creation – Candidates must create a user account to access the portal.
2. Universal Registration – Contains general details applicable to all UPSC exams, which can be filled in advance.
3. Common Application Form – Includes information common across multiple examinations, allowing candidates to update as needed.
4. Examination Section – Displays exam notifications, application forms, and status updates. This part requires candidates to submit exam-specific details within the stipulated deadline.
By segregating the process, UPSC aims to reduce last-minute rush and allow aspirants to complete preliminary steps well before exam notifications are released.
Mandatory Fresh Registration
All candidates must re-register on the new portal, as the previous OTR system has been discontinued. Applicants are required to upload necessary documents, with Aadhaar being strongly recommended for seamless identity verification.
Launch and Immediate Use
The portal went live on May 28, 2025, and will be operational for upcoming examinations, including:
- Combined Defence Services Exam (CDS)-II, 2025
- National Defence Academy & Naval Academy (NDA & NA)-II, 2025
Detailed instructions are available on the portal's homepage, along with step-by-step assistance for each module. UPSC has urged candidates to complete their registrations early to avoid technical delays.
For further details, candidates can visit the official UPSC website or the new application portal.
