The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has announced that all students who attempted question number 7 in the TS Intermediate 2nd-year English exam will be awarded full marks. The exam, conducted on March 10, 2025, witnessed a printing error in the aforementioned question, which was based on a pie chart.
The TS Intermediate public exams, which began on March 6, 2025, saw a total of 9.96 lakh students appearing across 1,532 examination centres. The English II paper for 2nd-year students was held on March 10 from 9 AM to 12 Noon. Out of the 4,46,992 registered candidates, 4,33,963 students appeared for the exam, while 13,029 were absent.
The issue came to light after several students raised concerns about inconsistencies in question number 7. The question, which involved interpreting a pie chart, reportedly contained errors that made it difficult for students to answer accurately. In response, the TSBIE convened a meeting with subject experts to evaluate the problem. After careful consideration, the board decided to award full marks for the question to all students who attempted it.
In an official statement, the TSBIE stated, “Following a thorough discussion with subject experts, the Board has decided to award full marks for the respective question to all students who attempted to answer it. This decision has been made in the interest of fairness and to ensure that no student is disadvantaged due to printing inconsistencies.”
The English II question paper for TS Intermediate 2nd-year students carries a total of 100 marks. The decision to award full marks for question number 7 has been welcomed by students and educators alike, as it addresses the concerns raised and upholds the board's commitment to fairness.
The TS Intermediate Public Exam (IPE) for Class 12 will continue until March 25, 2025. Students and parents have expressed relief over the board’s prompt action, which has alleviated unnecessary stress and ensured that students are not penalized for errors beyond their control.
As the exams progress, students are encouraged to remain focused and confident, knowing that the board is committed to addressing any issues that may arise.
