In a major administrative overhaul aimed at streamlining public sector recruitment, the Madhya Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, has announced plans to introduce a single, unified entrance exam for state employment, modelled on the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) pattern.
This decision is set to replace the current system of multiple, separate examinations conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) for various state government posts. The move is designed to address significant delays in the recruitment process and expedite the filling of a massive backlog of vacant positions.
Announcing the initiative at a public ceremony, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav highlighted the inefficiencies of the existing system. He stated that conducting numerous individual exams for different departments is a time-consuming process, often leading to prolonged delays in appointing qualified candidates.
The new "single entrance exam" model promises to consolidate these recruitment drives into one standardized, large-scale examination. This approach is expected to simplify the application process for lakhs of aspirants, bring uniformity in evaluation, and significantly cut down the time between notification and final appointment.
The urgency of this reform is underscored by the state's immediate employment needs. CM Yadav specifically pointed to the task of filling over 20,000 vacant posts within the police department, a mammoth undertaking that needs to be completed within the next three years.
The streamlined single-window exam system is seen as a critical tool to achieve this ambitious target efficiently and transparently.
MP SET 2025 Registrations OngoingWhile the new unified exam system is in the planning stages, the current recruitment processes continue. Registrations for the Madhya Pradesh State Eligibility Test (MP SET) 2025 are currently open.
The online application window began on October 25, 2024, and will remain active until November 20, 2025. As per the existing structure, the MP SET is conducted in three stages: Preliminary examination, Mains examination, and the Interview round.
