The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a retest for CUET UG 2025 Accountancy candidates following concerns over a mismatch between the notified syllabus and the actual question paper. The move comes after several students raised red flags about questions appearing from sections that were not clearly aligned with the prescribed syllabus.
The Accountancy paper, part of the Common University Entrance Test (Undergraduate), was scheduled to be conducted between May 13 and June 3, 2025. However, students who took the exam between May 13 and May 16 reportedly encountered questions that did not match the expected pattern—particularly in reference to Unit V of the syllabus.
In response, NTA has revised the structure of the Accountancy test paper to ensure “convergence between the notified syllabus and the design of the question paper.” As per the update, the revised pattern will offer students an option to choose between questions from Unit V or skip it entirely, while the remaining sections (Units I to IV) will remain unchanged.
This updated question paper pattern will be implemented from May 22, 2025, onwards. To ensure fairness, the NTA has decided to give candidates who appeared in the earlier slot the option to either retain their original score or re-appear for the Accountancy test under the revised format.
“The NTA is committed to conducting fair and transparent examinations. Students who appeared from May 13 to 16 will be given a chance to reattempt the paper, should they wish to,” the agency stated.
Eligible candidates will be able to exercise this choice through the official NTA portals — nta.ac.in and cuet.nta.nic.in. Further details regarding the retest schedule and application process will be released shortly.
Students and guardians are advised to regularly visit the official websites for the latest updates. For queries, candidates can contact the NTA helpdesk at 011-40759000 or email cuet-ug@nta.ac.in.
