Three minor sisters in Ghaziabad allegedly jumped to their deaths from the ninth floor of their residential building in the early hours of the day, with police probing a possible link to an online Korean task-based game. The incident occurred at around 2.30 am and has left the family and neighbourhood in shock.
Speaking to India Today, the girls’ father, Chetan Kumar, said the family was unaware that the sisters were involved in any dangerous online activity. “There were 50 tasks. Yesterday was the last one. We had no idea,” he said, adding that he did not wish to show his face.
According to the father, the girls regularly played a Korean game but never disclosed any details to their parents. “They used to play a Korean game. We had no idea about it. Yesterday was the final task,” he said. “They never told us anything. We did not understand what was happening in their lives,” he added.
Police said the sisters allegedly used a small two-step ladder to reach the spot from where they jumped, a detail investigators believe could be linked to instructions given as part of the final task in the game. Officers are examining whether the sequence of events followed a specific pattern.
“This does not appear accidental. We are checking every angle,” an officer said.
Preliminary findings suggest that the middle sister may have played a key role in coordinating the activities. She allegedly acted as the “leader”, relaying commands and deciding how tasks were to be completed. Police suspect that all three sisters carried out every activity together as part of the game, including the final act. “One of them was guiding the others,” an officer said.
The police have seized the mobile phones of the three sisters and sent them for forensic analysis. Investigators are examining chat histories, app usage and online contacts to determine who introduced the girls to the game and whether anyone was remotely directing them. “We are trying to trace who motivated them and who kept assigning tasks,” a senior officer said.
A one-page suicide note was recovered from the flat, which reportedly contained the words: “Mummy Papa sorry”.
